NOTE: Before attempting to replace the
battery on your Amazon Kindle, be sure that the
charger is disconnected from your Kindle, and
that the power switch and the wireless switches
are turned off.
1. Turn your Kindle
over on a "safe" surface to prevent damage to
the screen. We like to use the cover that came
with our Kindle.

2. Make sure your
Kindle power buttons are turned
OFF

3. Remove the back
cover from your Kindle

4. Locate the battery pack in your
Kindle

5. Note the notched
opening for your finger. GENTLY push the
battery to the back of it's compartment
and lift the battery up. IMPORTANT - by
design the battery is securely seated in it's
compartment so it may at first be difficult to
remove. DO NOT use any device in an
attempt to pry the battery from it's
compartment. YOU RISK SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR
KINDLE - and maybe to yourself if you use a
sharp object.

6. Lift the battery entirely out of it's
compartment and locate the power connector
between the battery and the Kindle.

7. Use your fingers to grasp the power
connector and pull back until the battery is
disconnected from the Kindle. IMPORTANT
- do not pull the battery or the wires to
disconnect the battery connector. You could
damage the Kindle battery's wiring.

8. To install your new battery, hold the
battery and connector as shown in the picture
below. Gently push the battery connector into
the Kindle with your finger. IMPORTANT - this
should take very little pressure. If pressure
is required then the pins on the Kindle and the
battery connector are not properly lined-up.
Remove the connector and try again. DO NOT
FORCE ANYTHING.

9. Once the battery is connected, press it
carefully back into the battery
compartment.

10. Replace the cover on your Kindle.

11. Once you have replaced the cover,
turn-on your Kindle. You will notice that it
will take a while for the Kindle to "power-up."
Removing the battery appears to "re-set" the
system. Note the progress bar as the Kindle
start-up progresses. You may see the screen
flash a few times, and you may see the message
"No Items to Display" once before your e-books,
audio books, and pictures appear on your Home
page.

Congratulations! You now know how-to replace
the battery in your Kindle.
